Hi everyone and welcome to this website which I set up to support a new monthly networking venture in property – the Surrey Property Exchange – in April 2011, to help all those involved or interested in the property business in Surrey and the surrounding areas.
I am a strong believer in the power and value of networking events; people have so much to offer but the constraint is often a condusive location to serve as a forum where knowledge, experience and information can be regularly shared in an informal and relaxed atmosphere. In having got myself seriously involved in property, I realised there was no forum locally so consequently took action to put that right..! I hope that the Surrey Property Exchange will fulfil your needs and prove to be an essential aid in your quest to learn more and do better in the property world..!!
I have personally gained a lot in terms of knowledge, motivation and confidence from attending some of the excellent network events that already exist in the South of England. They are full of good people with a common bond of wanting to learn and a clear desire to share knowledge, experience and information. For far too long, Surrey had been without such an event so I hope the Surrey Property Exchange will fulfil the need..! The format will always be informal and open, with no hard sells of courses or hardware from the front. The priority every month from the organising team will be one of achieving as much interaction and knowledge sharing as possible, so that everyone’s needs and information gaps are covered.
My personal involvement in property currently revolves around investing and developing in and around the Cobham / Oxshott area of Surrey, which is where I live. I began investing abroad nearly 25 years ago with properties in the French Alps and more recently in Cyprus for my own use and enjoyment.The investment focus is now within the UK, although a really good opportunity abroad might entice me again…!
My professional background is in high performance sport, with many years spent working within British Athletics and the British Olympic Association, before establishing my own consultancy and running two Winter Olympic Sports.
I now have a property services company operating in and around Cobham, and am also constantly looking to take on properties locally in order to improve and add value to them. I work with a small and gradually expanding group of partner investors in order to broaden the scope of what is possible in terms of refurb and development projects.
I am also a landlord locally and am seeking to develop this aspect too, particularly with reference to helping young professionals find good quality shared accommodation in a geographic area where it is tough to find opportunities away from large expensive family homes.

I would like to attend the meeting on the 11th April. Your information gives the location, but I can’t see where it states the start time.
I have a small portfolio of properties around the UK and would like to find out.
a) how to aquire ‘rent to buy tenants’ for them (lease options) and
b) How to build a portfolio in this area (west Surrey/ north Hampshire) using lease options. I would like to meet people that are doing this with an aim of possibly working with them.
Thanks for your questions Christopher – the evening will start at 7.00 with doors opening for networking from 6.00pm. There will be an extensive range of knowledge on tap from the people present during the evening and you are welcome to follow up with your questions during the soap box session towards the end of the formal proceedings. There will then be chance for you to network with those keen to talk to you afterwards.

My name is Peter Hogan, I live in Buckinghamshire and I am a Property Investor. I bought my very first BTL property in March 1986 and haven’t looked back! No BTL mortgages then, of course. No networking events, books, videos, seminars, courses or Gurus. I had an idea and pursued it, finding my own way and learning what I needed to know, and with great success.
